Yr5 visit to Fabric Technology in our senior school

5SM were very lucky to visit Mrs Wood's classroom in the senior school. We viewed senior students portfolio designs and drawings. Mrs Wood set us a drawing challenge that year 9 students do in her classes and we LOVED IT!

PURPOSE: Fashion students need to be able to show what types of fabrics,
colours, patterns and textures are to be used in their designs. (eg:
silky, plain, linen, fur, wool, leather etc) Learning to draw these
traditionally with pencils is ideal before we have a go on our ipads.

THE TASK:
We chose a swatch of fabric and glued it onto a blank page. We had to match the colours on the swatch as closely as possible using aqua pencils. We had to layer colours if necessary and make notes.
Finally, we had to replicate the swatch of fabric.

Here's some of our samples.
