Digital Fashionistas in Y5

Year 5 students are learning about fashion drawing. We have drawn figures in proportion using the 8-head method and compared those with the unrealistic, elongated fashion figures. After researching all the styles of drawing figures that designers use, we had to create our own 'look' using traditional drawing media.
Being modern, 21st century young girls, we wanted to explore how designers use digital media. (we've seen them drawing on tablets on Project Runway!)
We could then make an informed decision as to whether we preferred drawing traditionally or digitally in future. First, we had to create a drawn template of our fashion figure and photograph it.

Using the app Sketchbook, we have learnt to work with layers (like in Photoshop) Now we are exploring tools, brushes and ways of making textures, hair styles and fabrics for our designs.
This is how we get started....
