Yr 3 violins go to music!

Our paper violins have now finished their first stage in the art room and now we use them in music for the next few weeks.
In term 2 we will finish decorating them in art.
We are also making a class violin sculpture for the Dio Arts Fizz & Quiz night in term 2. They are going to auction two violins made by the  year 3 classes.
Here we are putting Modroc (plaster bandages on)

This is what our sculptures look like at the moment. We have all made a plan of how we will decorate them to show aspects of our culture.

Paint on your uniform?

As much as we try to be careful in a small space.....accidents do happen! There are more natural stain remover remedies online if you prefer or have time to research them. Let me know if any of them work! This is the potion that I use and other mum's have tried this one on our uniform as well.

Yr3 Papier mache Violins

Here's today's update with our violin sculptures...

WHAT A MESS we made! We learnt to:

* rip newspaper along the grain.
* use the papier mache strip technique.
* squeegee the glue off the paper strips.
* overlap the paper strips to create a stronger sculpture.
*use narrow strips around corners.
* smooth the layers as we worked to make an ideal painting surface.

...lots of fun...but we have to do it all again next week! Yay!
Thanks to the parent helpers.
